Product Number: Zooka 740 Baseball Pitching Machine with Short Tripod
In 1990, we began developing a personal pitching machine. It had to be affordable, light enough for the average person to carry with ease, quick to set up and take down, powerful enough to pitch real baseballs at fastball speeds and free of electrical cords. These parameters led us on a search for the most efficient means of projecting a ball. With the concerted efforts of an engineer and a physicist, we set out to solve the portable pitching machine riddle in two years tops. But each step revealed a new challenge. Unable to find a ready-made air compressor fit for the task, we resorted to building our own. And when off-the-shelf rechargeable battery units failed under the recoil of launching balls, we turned our expertise to crafting batteries. Ultimately, 10 years later nearly every aspect of the machine, including its quick-set-up tripod, was custom-made. And in 2000 Zooka Sports was officially launched.
The Zooka ZS740 and ZS720 doesn't look like conventional pitching machines because it doesn't work like them. While other machines depend on external wheels to pinch and propel the ball, the Zooka harnesses the power of compressed air. While conventional machines need a spool of extension cord, the Zooka draws power from a rechargeable battery. The Zooka also does away with confusing analog knobs in favor of an intuitive digital keypad and display. The resulting machine is powerful, streamlined and self-contained.
Zooka Sports has no intention of cornering the institutional pitching machine market. There's no shortage of heavy machines for use at college facilities. But a need does exist for a powerful pitching machine that a team, parent or grandparent can easily tote between the backyard and ballpark, one that isn't dependent on a pile of extension cords or a gas generator. In coach-pitch leagues, for instance, the Zooka is gaining popularity for its ability to throw balls at consistent speeds and heights. After a one-minute setup, the Zooka can deliver an entire game of perfect pitches, making the game fair and more fun for kids. "When you think of all the situations where industrial pitching machines are impractical or prohibitively expensive, that's our market. And it's the lion's share.
My hubby loves this pitching machine-teaching our son to play baseball and he can focus on teaching him how to bat, because he's not the pitcher. Have used it the last few weeks and love it. Our school has the same brand. Buy it. You won't regret it. Excellent customer service-seller reached out just to make sure I ordered the right height (there are 2). He was very kind & shipped that day. Super product.
This is the best pitching machine on the market for price and quality. The additional auto feeder works awesome and easy to use. The ability to use rubber cage balls or hardballs is awesome. The machine has enough power to last for hours of batting practice on just changed batteries if needed and plenty of power to throw at high speeds for higher level athletes.
I can't say enough about this product. I am a travel baseball coach in Raleigh, NC and I use the Zooka at every practice and tournament for BP. I constantly have people come up to me and ask about it. Here is what you should know...
This is a quality product. Period. It will throw thousands and thousands of balls without a hiccup. It will throw from below 40MPH to about 70 with consistency between pitches of 1-2 MPH. It has a display that shows the speed of every pitch.
It does not throw a fastball exactly, it throws kind of a knuckleball -- meaning there is not much spin on the ball as it leaves the machine. Once aimed it can hit a spot about 14" square very consistently. Aim it on the center of the plate and it will give you 95%+ strikes from 50 feet away. So it is accurate. My point is that this machine is consistent but challenging to hit -- almost like having a real pitcher. If a kid can hit this thing consistently he is a good hitter.
The tripod is rock solid. Generally it stays in place on its own once aimed unless the ground is wet or you are on astroturf. In these cases it is good to keep your hand on top of the unit as it throws to keep it from moving between pitches. No big deal.
It will throw regular baseballs no problem, but I have put so many thousands of balls through mine I have switched to the Baden pitching machine balls. They are much more durable than regular balls and more accurate. You will literally pitch so many balls through this machine that you will wear out your balls in a few months time!
This thing does so many more things than pitch. I use it for fly balls at every practice. It will throw balls to major league pop-up heights for hours. And it is so consistent. I can practice run-in, run-back, and side to side fly balls just by manipulating the Zooka. It is also great for practicing line drives, double plays and catcher drills.
This thing is expensive, yes, but frankly for kids 14 and under it is as good or better than a top of the line hack attack machine that costs $2500. And it is WAY more convenient. On one charge it will literally throw 400 balls at least. Sets uo and tears down in 5 minutes.
If you are on the fence. Buy it. If you are serious about baseball it will be the best investment you have ever made.
It's awesome. The kids love when we use it
The Zooka is an amazing Pitching Machine. Pitches real baseballs within the strike zone. I like the fact that its portable and easy to assemble. What stands out is that it lets my son know when the pitch is coming by a series of beeps and a light. Most other machines dont do that. Definitely worth every penny.
